Alternative Music

Across the Universe - I wanna hold you hand

I like this cover/version of this song because it makes the lyrics seem important and stand out more. I like the vocals of the girl, it's innocent and sweet. I like how they made the tough sounding song into a more ballad-type song. I think it makes it more meaningful.

Electric feel -Gabrielle Aplin

I love her vocals with this song. It makes it more interesting to listen to. It makes it sound like pop. She has good control of her voice and the soft guitar playing just makes it all sound very good and professional.

The TV Theme Medley - FreddeGredde

This is really interesting to listen to. He's very good at many different instruments which is good because he can create many different sounds and songs. He put these songs together in a way that works and fits together nicely.

Ellie Goudling - Only Girl in The World.

She makes this song into a love song by slowing it down, and putting in classical instruments. Her voice is also intriguing. The song has a totally opposite tone to it when she performs it rather than Rihanna's.

Bass

This song has a good bass to it. The vocals are also different, which makes it interesting.

Black and White photo.

I like the colouring of this photo, along with the texture of her skin. It has a great emotion to it.

It's like you can almost feel her skin, kind creepy, but amazing up-close detail. It displays good culture because she is old and has experienced more than we have. I think this photo would have a good story behind it. I think she has gone blind in her right eye(?) and there's a reason why she is holding her hand in front of the other. Maybe she's only blind in one and wants you to notice it, maybe she's blind in both. Maybe she can see better out of the eye that's showed.

Slideshow

Slideshow is almost done. Music and more photos are needed to make it better. Will be up Tuesday night when I get my music from school's Mac.

Cat Attack

I think this is a really good action shot. They used the focus really well in this photo, having the cat's face unfocused, and the frog and paw in focus. They also used the rule of thirds very well. The action of the paw is emphasized and balanced with the empty green space to the right. The emotion on the frog, seems like a realization of what is happening, as it seemed to be very unaware of the cat. The cat appears to be not emotionally involved with what is happening, like it's a game (which it could very well be to it). It seems focused on the attack but not entirely there. It isn't anything new to the cat, it seems like it knows what it's doing and this is something it's done before many times.

I like the emphasis on the frog's colour and how the browns and stripes from it's skin coincides with the cat's stripes and fur colour. The pink of the cat's toes, and the whites of it's claws stand out from the blurred background. You also notice the eyes of the cat.

The frog's legs are bent in a way that makes me feel that it is always ready to jump and escape from it's predators. The line on the frog (leading from it's eye to its leg) is eye catching and leads you to see the points of action. One, being the paw, and two being the ready-to-jump legs. You can also see the lines on the cat's face. Emphasizing the cat's eyes leading into it's nose then the paw. The cat's claws have a really good light on them, you can see the clearness to them, yet you can also see the curvature of them. It's paw is all spread out ready to grab the frog.

I feel like the cat's face is showing a disinterest, although the action seems to show the opposite.

All in all, good action photo with good timing.

FreddeGredde - Beside Me

I really like this youtuber's songs. I like this song a lot. I guess I like it because it appears to be unconventional, yet it all seems to transition well between the different parts. It starts of with a riff at the beginning(like how AC-DC's songs normally start), then starts to add in the different elements, piano, voice, bass, drums, and accordion. As you could see, the bass isn't playing the normal few repeated notes. He seems to be playing the melody. Instead of the bass being the support, the piano seems to be.
I can't exactly figure out what he's doing with his voice, but his overall sound is really easing(?). I feel like he has good control. I just like his sound, it seems peaceful, yet forward moving. He adds a nice layering effect and has good builds.

About me

Hello.
My name is Erika. I was in the 3U English class last year. Here's a few things about me that you may not know, and some that you might know already.
Dan Mangan - Jeopardy

Dan Mangan.
Amazing.

Dan is one of my favoured artists right now. I think he's the first artist that I have listened to more than one album. I currently own two of his albums, Nice, Nice, Very Nice, and Oh Fortune. I love the style of music he creates. It doesn't sound like conventional music, he throws different sounds and attitudes into his songs. His music is very catchy to me and I feel I need to listen to the song over and over to learn the words because he makes me want to sing along with him.

Something you know - I love to sing. I will sing anywhere, work, shopping, in the halls at school, etc. I like trying to perfect the sound of my voice in songs. I actually don't know what it is I like about singing so much, I just hear a song and do it. It pulls me into the song and makes me able to feel an emotion to what I'm listening to. I usually don't plan it. It just happens, and I catch myself singing in the middle of a song. I guess it's a kind of unconscious reaction.

Harry Potter.
Beautifully written.
I love the Harry Potter series. I love the books that I've read, and the movies I've watched. I've been to the exhibit that was at the science centre, I've also been to Florida at Universal's Harry Potter World, and I've been to England to the Warner Brothers studio tour. I don't think there's anything I hate about Harry Potter except that there's not more. Jk Rowling's writing is captivating to read, I could sit there for hours reading the things she's written.

Demography

Age: 17
Gender: Female
I tend to believe that I have an old soul. I don't understand teenagers, or like their general decisions. I tend to think about how the things I do now will affect my future. Example: partying. I attended a normal(?) teenager party, and wanted to leave 10 minutes after being there. I don't understand why people drink alcohol; it doesn't taste good, it smells awful, it alters how you think and the choices you make, if you drink too much you lose your memory (scary), and getting drunk makes you get sick either in the morning or that night. All of this is purely observation and stories as I have never drank before. I truly don't understand the reason for alcohol. Sometimes I think, I want to just be a normal teenager and do stupid things(make rash decisions), but quickly get over that idea because I don't want to mess anything up for my future.

I also don't think like an average teenager because I don't find enjoyment in things that they do. I always feel so lost when they laugh about things or want to do things that I don't understand their reasoning for. I'm trying to think of good examples but nothing is springing to mind.

Another thing, relationships. Teenagers seem to date people "because they're cute". That was a reason someone had not to break up with their partner when they weren't getting along. I believe that you should be in a relationship with someone only if you think you could marry them one day. I don't believe relationships to be "practice", it just doesn't make any sense to me. Why date someone if you know that you'll eventually break up with them. Not logical.

I try to think logically. I don't want to be the girl that people laugh at, or "face palm" because they say or do something really (for lack of a better word) dumb.

I don't feel "liked" among the fellow teenagers, mostly older people like me, or so I think. Although, they probably all like me because I don't swear, I smile, and (they tell me) I'm cute. Most likely because I look like I'm 12. Not good now, could be good later when I'm 30, hopefully I'll look 25, it just isn't good now because people don't seem to take me seriously.

I could probably go on talking about myself for another 500 words, but I believe I should stop now. I'll save it for the next posts. Hopefully you learned something about me, hopefully I don't sound too crazy, but I am pretty crazy, so it could be very possible.

That's all for now,
Erika.
